About the RoleWe are seeking a Business Development Associate to join our team in Puerto Rico. This is a three-year rotational program that allows you to explore and contribute to Popular while leveraging your strengths and growing your skills.
As a Business Development Associate, you will rotate through key operational and business areas, experiencing various support functions along the way. Accelerated development is key, with trainings and workshops provided to enhance your knowledge and technical and soft skills.
This is a truly collaborative and hands-on experience, with mentors, buddies, and cross-functional team members supporting your journey to develop your expertise.
Responsibilities- Rotate through three different roles within the company over a period of three years.
- Develop and enhance professional skills through hands-on experience and training programs.
- Mentorship from experienced peers and executives.
- Exposure to diverse business processes, staff functions, and management viewpoints.
- Banking industry knowledge through collaboration and networking with experienced team members.
- Trainings in job department functions to facilitate transfer between rotational units and increase promotional opportunities.
- Company-sponsored trainings/licenses/certifications to increase professional growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Arts (Economics or Industrial Psychology), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or Business Administration.
- Earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
- A maximum of four years of combined work experience.
- Solid experience in extracurricular activities such as student organizations, community service, special projects, mentoring, tutoring, or volunteer work.
- Possess polished presentation skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Be comfortable working in complex, fast-paced environments with aggressive due dates and be able to analyze and find solutions to tough problems.
- Have demonstrated learning agility, staying focused on main issues and preventing irrelevant distractions.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and apply design principles to generate creative solutions.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, developing alternative solutions and consequences.
- Lead others by establishing clear priorities and objectives, fostering a climate of respect, motivating the team, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
- Show self-awareness, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills, thinking before acting.
- Achieve results by providing innovative ways of working with operational and technological considerations.
- Establish a desired future, effectively translating it into action plans and understanding the business environment and major trends and their impact.
- Have advanced proficiency in MS Office 365 and other presentation software, as well as experience with data management tools like Power Pivot and Power BI.
- Demonstrate leadership, logic, and reasoning skills, working with multiple projects and tasks with minimal supervision.
