We are seeking a highly skilled Food Service Manager to oversee the operations of our full-service kitchen in a school cafeteria or in the Food Service Production Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and supervising the daily operations, ensuring timely and efficient production, and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and supervise the daily operations of the kitchen, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
- Ensure timely and efficient production of meals, adhering to food safety and quality standards.
- Oversee the work of student assistants and supervise personnel, including completing performance appraisals and recommending discipline.
- Communicate with principal regarding cafeteria operation schedules and menus, and investigate complaints from students, parents, or other sources.
- Assign work to Cooks and Food Service Helpers, inspect work in progress to ensure production timeliness and conformance to cooking and sanitation standards.
- Plan and prepare for next day production needs on a daily basis, and assist in performance of work as required.
- Teach quantity cooking and equipment use, and order food supplies and paper products.
- Maintain records of cafeteria receipts and expenditures, and ensure registers are operating and have cash on hand for student purchases.
- Oversee storage of perishable and non-perishable goods in order to prevent waste or contamination, and check temperatures and operation of kitchen equipment.
- Prepare daily production sheets, accounting records, teacher labor reports, or other reports as required.
- One (1) year of experience as a Cook with Columbus City Schools or comparable experience elsewhere.
- Possession of a valid Level II State of Ohio Food Protection Certification.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for some positions.
