Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Education Leadership Specialist to join our team at the Gersh Autism organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Executive Director/Principal in the implementation of the academic curriculum, staff evaluation, staff professional development, and the management of the daily operations of the building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise instructional programs, evaluate lesson plans, and observe classes to ensure effective instructional strategies and materials are used.
  • Ensure instructional programs address each student's needs, interests, and skill levels, and encourage students to define individual goals and accept responsibility for learning.
  • Provide high-level administrative support, including receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, scheduling meetings, bookkeeping, typing or word processing, and filing.
  • Ensure student progress is measured according to their IEP.
  • Manage teachers' budgets with SD.
  • Support the Main Office.
  • Verify the accuracy of the Student's Service Providers/Therapist to ensure services are provided on schedule.
  • Perform performance assessments on teachers and teacher assistants.
  • Support verifying Student Binders, Program book, Specification Sheets, Evaluation Reports, Report Card Comments, and Annual Reviews.
  • Keep Student DE files in order and updated. Assist in coordinating CSE meetings.
  • Lead CSE meetings.
  • Supervise lead teachers, teacher assistants, and paraprofessionals on site and in ADP.
  • Support with Student Attendance in Power School and MiPE.
  • Supports in Training and Professional Development for teachers based on curriculum resources, lesson planning, implementation, and evaluation methods.
  • Ensure educational resources and curriculum (Telecubes, FACES, N2Y, Rethink, Nearpod, etc.) are being used for students' assessments and weekly plans.
  • Helps in the developing of IEP goals for the students.
  • Ensures IEP data has been uploaded to MiPE.
  • Oversees/Manages special education students and the implementation of their IEP/504 plans in all settings.
  • Ensures the appropriate delivery of special education instruction and related services as stipulated on IEPs.
  • Effectively communicates to parents and guardians the special education process, including the process for referrals, evaluations, annual IEPs/504 plans, and re-evaluations, as well as parental rights granted by IDEA.
  • Facilitates IEP meetings using a strength-based and family-centered approach.
  • Provides for school safety: physical, emotional, and intellectual, in order for effective teaching and learning to take place.
  • Serves as an integral partner in the work of creating a school culture that promotes continuous improvement, with a special focus on professional learning communities.
  • Provides leadership and support for the development and ongoing improvement of a well-integrated system of high-quality core instruction and targeted interventions guided by academic and social-emotional student outcome data.
  • Recruits, hires, leads, and evaluates certified and classified employees as assigned by the building principal, in accordance with District protocols.
  • Demonstrates effective instructional leadership by leading the learning of adults towards the shared commitment of improving instructional practices and student outcomes.
  • Engages with families and the school community to promote student learning by facilitating effective parent partnerships.
  • Assists in the establishment, implementation, and management of building procedures and programs according to Gersh Autism policies and state laws and regulations.
  • Ensures all meetings and documentation are accurately completed for Annual Review meetings.
  • Supervises and manages staff performance and facilitates professional growth of the school staff.
  • Serves as a role model for teachers and students, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession.
  • Provides classroom support one-to-one when needed.
  • Performs other tasks assigned by the School Principal or Executive Director.
