Job Summary
As a Special Education Teacher at Gersh Autism, you will play a critical role in the educational development of students with Autism. Your responsibilities will include directing and supervising teacher assistants and paraprofessionals, training them in specific instructional strategies, and evaluating student progress. You will also provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment, oversee pre- and post-testing, and employ special educational strategies to meet their varying needs and interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise teacher assistants and paraprofessionals
  • Train teacher assistants and paraprofessionals in specific instructional strategies
  • Evaluate student progress and monitor the effectiveness of instructional and behavior management strategies
  • Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students
  • Oversee pre- and post-testing of students
  • Employ special educational strategies to meet students' varying needs and interests

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or related field
  • 1 year of teaching experience (preferred)
  • 1 year of experience working with students with Autism (preferred)
  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Puerto Rico Special Education Teaching License (preferred)
