Senior Event Manager

Job Summary
As a Senior Event Manager at Marriott International, you will be responsible for assisting in the supervision of event services operations while personally assisting in the setup of function rooms. You will also assist in developing and directing teams to provide consistent, high-quality service. Your role will involve communicating performance expectations and training staff in processes, as well as monitoring and controlling financial and administrative responsibilities.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; 3 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, or a related professional area.
Core Work Activities
Supporting Event Services Operations
Ensure the Red Coat program is in place in accordance with Catering Event Service minimum standards.
Delegate tasks to ensure room sets are "on time" and meet Event Service Standards.
Manage departmental inventories and assets, including par levels and maintenance of equipment.
Project supply needs for the department.
Ensure candy rotation on all meeting room sets.
Establish consistent standards for regular meeting room sets and VIP meeting room sets.
Conduct function room inspections prior to each function to ensure the room is set according to specifications.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all banquet operation areas.
Coordinate routine maintenance to ensure a quality meeting facility.
Act as a liaison between Banquets, Event Planning, Event Delivery teams, and the group contact throughout the event.
Coordinate the necessary departments to maintain meeting room standards.
Review the Diary weekly to ensure space maximization.
Ensure function rooms are set according to event documentation.
Providing Exceptional Customer Service
Make your presence known to customers at all times.
Stay available to solve problems and/or suggest alternatives to previous arrangements.
Set a positive example for guest relations.
Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints.
Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
Conducting Human Resources Activities
Set service goals for event service supervisors and employees to achieve Event Planner satisfaction goals.
Ensure employees understand expectations and parameters.
Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings.
Lead shifts and actively participate in the servicing of events.
Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures and ensure staff are trained in safety procedures.
Conduct monthly department meetings with Event Service staff.
Schedule employees to ensure shift coverage and meet business demands and productivity goals; critique any variances.
