GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Administers processes to implement the strategy or business plan in the areas under supervision. Coordinates and supervises operations and support activities for the benefit of active and retired employees and their beneficiaries, involving multiple retirement-related services and products or specialized areas under his/her responsibility.
The following duties are performed:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
Prepares work schedules and assigns duties to personnel to ensure efficient operation of the department in the areas of defined benefit (pension) and defined contribution (401[k]) retirement plans, retiree medical plan, and nonqualified deferred compensation plans in Puerto Rico and the United States. Compiles required and special reports on operating functions of department or unit. Compiles and accurately reports all financial data as required by internal controls and external regulations. Audits records and reports to ensure staff’s compliance with standard procedures and practices. Conducts staff meetings to discuss operational problems or explain procedural changes or practices. Trains, coaches, and evaluates employees to improve efficiency and ensure conformance to standard procedures and practices. Coordinates departmental participation in retirement benefit audits. Interacts with various organizational units to effectively deliver the benefits (e.g., Payroll, Our People Service Center, Corporate Communications, Fiduciary Services, Finance & Accounting). Communicates (written and verbal) with active and retired employees regarding retirement benefits design and operation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 6 to 8 employees (exempt and non-exempt).
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, 3-5 years’ experience in supervisory role
- English language proficiency
- Prior experience in employee benefits, including retirement benefits.
Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:
World at Work certification as Certified Benefits Professional or equivalent certification as Employee Benefits Specialist.
