Plasma Processing Specialist

As a Plasma Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors. You will report to the Assistant Center Manager and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
The Role- In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), you will be responsible for collecting plasma samples and moving plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
- You will ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, which could include unsuitable plasma units and samples.
- You will verify the accuracy of unit labeling by ensuring the pre-printed label matches the dynamic label.
- You will utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use heat sealer to assure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
- You may be responsible for ensuring samples and units are packed and shipped in accordance with SOPs and center procedures. You will prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
- You will monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and immediately inform appropriate personnel if equipment is not functioning properly. You will record variances.
- You will conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
- You will ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
- You will understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
- You will maintain a clean and efficient work environment, and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. You will follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. You will promote safety in all actions.
- You will maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- You may be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
- Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
- You will perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) months experience in laboratory or warehouse environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- You will perform basic math calculations.
- You will understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
- You will understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
- You will see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
- You will occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time.
- You will reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
- You will occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- You will frequently be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and to blood-borne pathogens.
- You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
- You will be required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
