About the Role


The Healthcare Appeals Resolution Specialist will play a vital role in reviewing, researching, and resolving all types of appeals and grievances in accordance with regulatory guidelines, client policies, and internal standards. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in an office setting environment using technology as a primary tool.



Key Responsibilities



  • Manage and resolve healthcare appeals work type within required deadlines, ensuring timely resolution to meet regulatory guidelines and client policies
  • Collect, review, and validate supporting documentation for appeals, conducting thorough research to ensure accurate and fair case resolutions
  • Share and submit reports on case status, resolution times, and appeal outcomes to supervisors and other relevant stakeholders
  • Triage requests and determine the type of work received, routing it to the appropriate department when necessary
  • Classify and set up cases in the appeals system, ensuring accurate data entry based on research
  • Identify and obtain additional information needed to make informed decisions on appeals, including member benefit information and provider-specific details
  • Review and analyze claims, applicable SOPs, nuance grid, delegation status, state-specific, and national policies and procedures to ensure accurate decision-making
  • Select correct letter templates, complete them with relevant information and rationale, and send out completed written notification letters within appeal requirements
  • May engage in verbal outreaches to providers or members as necessary
  • Prioritize work based on due dates, monitoring workload through applicable work list reports, and plan, prioritize, organize, and complete tasks to meet established timeframes
  • Solve moderately complex problems independently, seeking supervision guidance when needed for higher-level tasks
  • Meet quality and productivity expectations, contributing to team goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with other team members as necessary


Requirements



  • 1+ year experience in a production environment
  • Experience working in an office setting, utilizing technology as a primary tool
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Tools: Word (memos, writing), Outlook (calendar appointments, email), and Excel (spreadsheets, filtering, navigating reports)
  • Bilingual proficiency in English & Spanish (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during standard business operating hours, Monday - Friday from 8am - 8pm AST (with occasional overtime possible)


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience working with appeals or triaging similar work
  • Familiarity with ISET, ICUE, and/or LINX systems
  • Behavioral Health claims experience
  • Awareness of Managed Behavioral Health terminology
