Job Title: Production Coordinator

Aniplex of America Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan, is seeking a highly skilled Production Coordinator to join their team in Santa Monica, CA. This role will involve coordinating projects for the English localization of Japanese anime for North America, Central America, and South America.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with Aniplex Japan and Authoring companies in Japanese, utilizing business etiquette and cultural understanding.
  • Act as a liaison between dubbing companies, designers, and other stakeholders for each title.
  • Translate text for series synopsis, episode synopsis, terminology, and credits from Japanese to English.
  • Review translation accuracy between Japanese and English.
  • Review English subtitles, on-screen text, and adapted scripts for dubbing.
  • QC Blu-ray, DVD, and other media.
  • Review disc packaging materials, including text, design, layout, and proof.
  • Track localization progress and schedule.
  • Manage inventory and Blu-ray order numbers.
  • Track shipping and receiving between manufacturing and distribution companies.
  • Create POs and title cards.
  • Assist in anime events, including writing and translating panel scripts, coordinating with Japan, and hosting panels.
  • Research manga, comics, video games, and novels.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in office environments.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant localization experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Japanese.
  • Bachelor's degree in related fields or equivalent skills and knowledge.
  • Strong writing, reading, and communication skills in both English and Japanese.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments with heavy workloads and tight deadlines.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, energetic, and creative.
  • Strong enthusiasm for entertainment, including anime and Japanese pop culture.
