The Army & Air Force Exchange Service, also known as “the Exchange,” is the retailer on US Army and Air Force installations worldwide. An $8 billion enterprise ranked among the top retailers, the Exchange operates department stores, convenience stores, restaurants, movie theaters and an internet shopping site to serve Soldiers, Airmen and their families. In addition to US bases in Germany, Italy, England, Turkey, South Korea and Japan, the Exchange operates stores for US troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries in the region. Job Qualifications
Education: High school or equivalent. Experience: Six months of progressively responsible general experience involving records maintenance, receiving, screening, reviewing, and verifying documents; preparing and/or verifying the validity of documents with which the organization is concerned. High school or equivalent may be substituted for required experience.
If a sufficient number of qualified candidates do not apply, the minimum qualifications may be lowered without reposting.

*Forklift license preferred*SOFA RELATED REQUIREMENTS/ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Applications will be accepted from all locally available U.S. citizens who do not have dual Japanese and U.S. citizenship. U.S. citizens who have either permanent or temporary Japanese residency (i.e. “zairyu card” holders) will be required to have their Japanese residency status cancelled as a condition of being employed in an Exchange U.S. payroll position that results in the applicant having “SOFA status” under Article I.(b) of the U.S. – Japan Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). With “SOFA status” the selectee will be exempt from Japanese taxes on income earned from the Exchange, enjoy duty-free purchase privileges at the Exchange and Commissary as well as other benefits arising from having “SOFA status.” Having “SOFA status,” however, also means the selectee will represent the United States in Japan in a quasi-Ambassadorial role. The selectee will thus need to ensure that they consistently conduct themselves in a manner that does not reflect negatively on the United States, the United States Forces, Japan, or the Exchange. That in turn means that the selectee will be held accountable for off-base misconduct – and in particular off-base criminal misconduct. The selectee must understand and accept that while the facts of each case that arises will be reviewed individually, off-base criminal misconduct will often result in separation for cause.

Major Duties
Unloads merchandise from delivery vehicles. Examines cases and packages for indication of damage or pilferage and points out discrepancies to supervisor. Checks type and quantity of merchandise received against receiving reports, transfer vouchers, truck load lists, direct-delivery tickets, open-order invoices, visual rapid reorder (VRR) requisitions, or other documentation according to specific instructions.
Unpacks, segregates, and stores merchandise in bins, on floor, or on shelves according to specific identifying information or supervisors instructions. May price-mark merchandise. Assembles and loads merchandise orders for delivery.
Maintains cleanliness and order in stockroom area.
Performs stock counts and assists in the conduct of interim and official inventories.
May receive and sign for VRR merchandise. Discrepancies noted in shipments are reported to the M-5 Warehouse Worker or Foreman.

Work is performed inside and outside. May work in areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. May work in bad weather on open docks. Work is often dirty, dusty, and greasy. Frequent expose to cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls from ladders, or injury from materials handling equipment.
