Behavioral Health Technician

At Discovery Behavioral Health, we are committed to providing innovative care to our patients. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our team.
Job Summary:The Behavioral Health Technician will play a vital role in supporting patients through the entire treatment experience, from admission to discharge. This includes ensuring patient safety, providing milieu interventions, and supporting patients as they navigate the treatment process.
Responsibilities:- Facilitate patient daily needs per the program schedule.
- Assist Nursing staff with duties as directed, including patient supervision, vitals, room searches, and patient searches.
- Recognize, respond to, and assist in crisis situations, providing interventions as necessary.
- Consistently report to work on time and prepared to perform the duties of the position.
- Deliver indirect and selected direct patient care as directed by facility leadership.
- Conduct intake processes, searches of belongings, and complete BAC's and drug screen observations as directed by facility leadership.
- Monitor patient activity and document any significant patient issues.
- Record rounds and ensure patient safety as specified.
- Conduct regular facility and grounds checks, advising facility leadership of any irregularities or safety concerns.
- Notify and report any health and safety issues, significant patient concerns, and any out-of-the-ordinary occurrences to facility leadership immediately.
- Complete all documentation requirements prior to the end of the shift.
- Perform basic housekeeping duties.
- Facilitate and lead daily groups as directed by facility leadership if applicable.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Complete all online training, policy verification, and ensure that their employee HR file is kept up to date.
- Monitor and oversee the self-administration of patient medication if applicable.
- Provide transportation services, including patient transportation/supervision, errands, shopping, admits, outings, etc. (must be pre-qualified to drive a company vehicle).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid and unrestricted required State Driver's License if applicable.
- Minimum of 1 year sobriety if in recovery.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to document within an electronic system.
- First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire and required recertification annually thereafter.
- De-escalation/restraint technique certification within 90 days of hire and recertification yearly thereafter.
- Medication training within 30 days of hire if applicable.
