Police Officer Trainee Job Description

**Job Summary:**

The City of Santa Monica, CA is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Police Officer Trainee. As a Police Officer Trainee, you will participate in a rigorous academic and physical training program, mandated by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a formal academic and physical police training program
  • Complete basic training courses as prescribed by P.O.S.T.
  • Respond to multiple calls, major traffic accidents, and other emergencies
  • Complete reports in a timely manner
  • Perform a variety of clerical support duties

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver license
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from the public in a tactful manner
