Job SummaryWe're seeking an experienced Coverage Determination Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our PBM Operations & Services group, you'll play a vital role in creating and evaluating coverage determinations for our clients.
Your expertise will be essential in communicating with pharmacists, beneficiaries, and doctors regarding pending coverage determinations, applying clinical knowledge in each case.
You'll also ensure compliance with federal rules and regulations, as well as client contracts, while demonstrating a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
Responsibilities- Review and respond to all Coverage Determination (CD) requests and claims pending adjudication for Medicare and/or Commercial-plan beneficiaries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Receive calls from pharmacies, physicians, and members regarding CD request status.
- Initiate calls to physicians, pharmacies, and members when additional information is required for processing and adjudicating a CD request.
- Generate calls, faxes, and/or letters to pharmacies, physicians, and members regarding CD request resolutions.
- Document CD request inquiries, issues, status, and resolution according to federal and department/company policies and guidelines.
- Review faxes and emails and create new cases for Medicare/Medicaid or Commercial plans.
- Support Pharmacists in gathering additional information to support decision-making regarding exceptions (formulary, non-formulary, or other requests).
- Ensure Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Compliance and other regulating entities related to coverage determinations.
- Complete other Coverage Determination-related tasks, as assigned.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- An Associate degree in Pharmacy Technician or equivalent relevant work experience.
- No less than 3 years of experience in customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with fluency in English and Spanish required.
