Electronic Warfare Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electronic Warfare Technician to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and repairing electro-mechanical systems, as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, assemble, fabricate, debug, and repair electrical mechanical systems
  • Use prior working knowledge of communications-related test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers, to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues
  • Work with complex systems of antennas, RF front ends, and signal processing equipment
  • Participate in laboratory and field testing by providing logistical and organizational support for systems under test
  • Assist in the procurement of electrical components and spare parts as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and the institute's protocols

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree, certification, or other experience beneficial
  • At least two years of relevant experience as a technician, military, or in other relevant domains
  • Understanding of electronics and computer equipment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong interpersonal, speaking, and technical writing skills
  • Active Secret security clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with field testing and logistics, such as security, shipping, hazardous materials, frequency authorization, etc.
  • Experience with computer scripting
  • Experience with using the Linux operating system
  • Willingness to travel to test locations and lift over 50 lbs
