Job Summary:
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Research Laboratory Manager to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for managing daily laboratory operations, supporting cutting-edge research in immuno-oncology, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the lab.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day laboratory operations, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage lab resources, including budgeting and inventory control, to ensure efficient use of funds and materials.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, maintenance personnel, and other service providers.
- Ensure lab compliance with OSUCCC, NIH, and other regulatory agencies' standards and protocols.
- Supervise and train lab staff, including graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and technicians, on laboratory protocols, safety procedures, and equipment use.
- Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, ensuring proper documentation of all experiments, reagents, and protocols.
- Assist with experimental design, data collection, and analysis as needed, in collaboration with research staff and Dr. Li.
- Coordinate collaborative research projects, both within the lab and with external institutions, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.
- Oversee the development, optimization, and implementation of new experimental techniques, assays, and workflows.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., immunology, oncology, molecular biology).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a research laboratory, with prior management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques relevant to immuno-oncology research, including flow cytometry, cell culture, and molecular biology techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience with grant writing, budgeting, and project management is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in a research setting.
