Job Summary:
The Director of Materials Management is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of daily operations, service levels, and tasks within the area of control. This position requires collaboration with Materials Management Services at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures for areas of responsibility at BWHC.
- Assures compliance with budgets and targets in all areas.
- Prepares and maintains the Capital and Operating Budgets for areas of responsibility.
- Hires, fires, evaluates, and rewards personnel within areas of responsibility.
- Accountable for leadership, training, and professional mentoring of personnel.
- Responsible for effective training programs to meet TJC, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies requirements.
- Collaborates with Partners Healthcare Materials Management organization to meet the purchasing and contracting needs of BWH and BWFH.
Requirements:
- Knowledge as typically acquired through an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 12+ years progressive experience in a healthcare setting.
- Minimum of 5 years experience at a management level is required.
- BA/BS required with MBA preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Functions independently within a broad scope of established hospital and departmental policies and goals.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical skills necessary to make sound judgments based on data analysis.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under stressful situations.
