The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the administration, development, and implementation of plant capital projects.
This role involves managing all aspects of capital projects, including cost control, scheduling, compliance, and vendor management.
Responsibilities: Administer and supervise the development of conceptual designs for plant capital projects.
Ensure proper utilization of contracted A/E firms and construction contractors.
Develop project estimates, schedules, and priorities aligned with the Capital Plan.
Coordinate with internal teams, external engineering firms, or contractors for project execution.
Adhere to corporate standard specifications and engineering drawings.
Confirm all project deliverables are met prior to project closeout.
Prepare and manage cost estimates for all capital projects.
Monitor and oversee the capital project approval process.
Ensure compliance with corporate and site operational guidelines.
Maintain all necessary training related to the position.
Analyze project implementation issues and implement action plans.
Assist in issuing and approving Purchase Requirement Specifications (PRS).
Identify preferred vendors for equipment and instrumentation.
Provide technical support to contracted field engineers and evaluate methods for improving project execution.
Coordinate project meetings and prepare status reports.
Ensure project costs remain within approved budgets.
Develop and manage cost control and cash-flow for capital projects.
Prepare and oversee capital budget documentation.
Support safety programs to ensure safe project implementation.
Ensure all engineering documents comply with local, state, and corporate codes and requirements.
Assist in the selection of contracted engineering personnel as needed.
Evaluate and oversee the use of outside consultants/contractors for capital projects.
Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical).
10+ years of experience in Plant Engineering (Maintenance and/or Projects).
Proficiency in Project Management Institute (PMI) methodologies.
Familiarity with GMP, OSHA, FDA, DEA, and environmental regulations in the pharmaceutical industry.
Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Availability for on-call support during weekends and after hours.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineering License for Puerto Rico (preferred).
Membership in CIAPR (preferred).
