Secondary School Music Teacher

Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Secondary School Music Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in music theory, proficiency in teaching multiple instruments, experience in directing bands, and expertise in vocal techniques. Additionally, the candidate should be willing to actively participate in the musical production of the school's yearly musical.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in music education, or related field (master’s degree (preferred).A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience, preferably within a private or independent school setting.Valid teaching certificate in the subject area(s) sought.Demonstrate proficiency in music theory, instrumental instruction, and vocal techniques.Experience in directing bands, orchestras, or vocal ensembles in a school or community setting.Flexible, creative, and enthusiastic approach to music education, with a commitment to fostering a lifelong love of music in students.Exemplary work ethic, a positive demeanor, adaptability, and a willingness to undertake assigned tasks.Demonstrating a deep passion for and staying informed about current advancements in educational theory and practice.Excellent written and oral skills in both English and Spanish a must.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to build rapport with children, families and school staff required.Ability to work independently and with others.Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community.Understand and exhibit high standards of professional conduct.Solid and effective interpersonal and communication skillsComputer/technological skills.Effective ability to organize, prioritize and manage time adequately.Tasks and Responsibilities:Teach an engaging music curriculum for secondary school students incorporating music theory, instrumental instruction, ensemble performance, and vocal techniques.Provide instruction in a variety of musical instruments, including but not limited to piano, guitar, strings, brass, and woodwinds, catering to students' diverse skill levels and interests.Direct and conduct the school band and other instrumental ensembles, guiding students in rehearsals and performances to achieve musical excellence.Teach and refine vocal techniques through vocal warm-ups, exercises, and repertoire selection, fostering students' vocal development and confidence.Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music education across the curriculum and participate in interdisciplinary projects and performances.Willingness to participate in school's co-curricular performance activities, such as concerts and theater productions.Assess student progress through regular evaluations, performances, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support individual growth and achievement.Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore, create, and express themselves through music.Stay current with trends and developments in music education, attending professional development workshops and conferences to enhance teaching practices and pedagogical approaches.How to Apply:
