Position Summary:

Work collaborative with Lead Teacher to provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for pre-school aged children. The assistant supports the implementation of curriculum, assists in the classroom management, and ensures the well-being of each student.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree preferred in Education or related fields.A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience, preferably within a private or independent school setting.Knowledge of early childhood development and educational principles.Patience, flexibility, and passion for working with young children.Exemplary work ethic, a positive demeanor, adaptability, and a willingness to undertake assigned tasks.Demonstrating a deep passion for and staying informed about current advancements in educational theory and practice.Excellent written and oral skills in both English and Spanish a must.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to build rapport with children, families and school staff required.Ability to work independently and with others.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community.Understand and exhibit high standards of professional conduct.Computer/technological skills.Effective ability to organize, prioritize and manage time adequately.Willingness to commit and become an active participant in school life.Tasks and Responsibilities:Aid the lead teacher during educational development tasks for students.Assist and supervise students during class, lunch break, nap time, and play time while ensuring the safety and well-being of the students.Be a liaison with lead teachers while they develop and implement the best teaching practices.Assist in all classroom responsibilities including the development and set up of learning centers, bulletin boards, material preparation, and attendance records keeping among others.Collaborate with the lead teacher to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.Assist in the enforcement of classroom rules and behavior expectations.Foster social, emotional and cognitive development through positive interactions.Support the use of educational materials and resources to enhance learning.Provide individualized attention and assistance to students as needed.Report any concerns or observations about students’ development to the lead teacher.Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
