Job Title: Director of Academics

Join the Children's Guild Inc team as a Director of Academics and be part of transforming the way America cares for and educates its children. We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our academic programming and establish a culture consistent with the tenets of Transformation Education (TranZed).

About the Role:
  • Lead the development and implementation of academic programs aligned with Maryland state standards and Transformation Education approaches.
  • Collaborate with the principal to plan, develop, and implement all aspects of the TranZed school program.
  • Supervise teachers and teacher assistants, providing feedback and coaching to ensure high-quality instructional delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the instructional inventory to ensure adequate materials and curricula for teachers.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff members through email, phone calls, flyers, and in-person meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in implementing Transformation Education approaches to learning.
  • Participate in the development of compelling topics and learning targets aligned with the core curriculum.
  • Support organizational structures and intervention levels for tiered instruction.
  • Lead curriculum development projects and design internal writing benchmarks for assessing students' writing.
  • Monitor instruction through daily learning walks and observations, and coach and model for staff the student assessment protocols.
Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree with emphasis on supervision, educational administration, special education, elementary or secondary school curriculum, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience and successful completion of classroom observations.
  • Experience in working with non-verbal students diagnosed with ASD and a life skills-based program.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Maryland teaching certification and MSDE APC Teaching Certificate.
