Fraternity and Sorority Life Specialist

The Fraternity and Sorority Life Specialist serves as a vital member of the Center for Student Involvement team, contributing to the development, enrichment, and assessment of the university's vibrant and diverse Fraternity and Sorority Life community.
This role is part of a three-person staff supporting 35+ social Greek-letter organizations and approximately 2,900 affiliated students, representing 13% of the undergraduate student population at Northeastern.
The FSL Specialist advises governing councils and individual chapters on short and long-term goals, operational excellence, event planning, risk management, health and wellness, and expansion and recruitment procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide event planning support to chapters by coordinating event logistics for on and off-campus events, including fundraising approvals, facilities/space requests, and compliance with university and membership organization event policies.
- Advise organizations on community service and philanthropy programs, holding chapter leaders accountable for completing inter/national program requirements.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director to coordinate and implement curriculum for students in the FSL community, focusing on health and wellness, identity and leadership exploration, membership expectations, and inclusive community building.
- Support the Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life in addressing organizational misconduct, working with the Office of Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution and the Office for University Equity & Compliance.
- Oversee roster management systems, ensuring compliance with required forms and semesterly evaluations.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate co-op students, working with other CSI staff members.
- Design and implement chapter services initiatives, leading chapter coach meetings and enhancing communication through technology solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, with a minimum of two years of experience in student activities, major event management, and fraternity/sorority life community development.
- Candidates should have an awareness of specific trends and issues affecting fraternities and sororities, as well as knowledge of industry-wide best practices in fraternity/sorority advising.
- An understanding of social media platforms and techniques is also essential.
