We are seeking a highly skilled Reentry Systems Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a Reentry Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and testing of reentry systems for strategic ballistic missile and long-range strike hypersonic weapons systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct engineering analysis and assess the performance of reentry bodies
- Lead trade studies on various reentry systems
- Lead and analyze flight test data to understand system performance
- Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to advise government and industry partners on engineering challenges and design trades
- Produce reports and presentations to communicate findings to team members and government partners
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of key reentry subject areas such as aerodynamic performance, flight dynamics, and/or subsystem performance
- Experience or knowledge in design, integration, and/or testing of hypersonics systems
- Strong computer experience and programming skills, including MATLAB
- Ability to work and effectively interact with colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams both internally and externally of different experience levels and backgrounds
- A competitive salary range of $90,000 to $220,000 annually
