Custodian Staff

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Grand St Settlement, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our facilities, ensuring a healthy and comfortable environment for our staff, families, and children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and maintain all floors, restrooms, and common areas, ensuring a high level of cleanliness and sanitation.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairing peeling paint, play equipment, and furniture, as well as assisting with moving heavy items.
• Monitor and report any hazardous conditions or necessary repairs to the Center Director.
• Collaborate with other building maintenance staff to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in janitorial duties, including cleaning, repairing, and painting.
• Ability to read and write to follow work schedules and keep inventory.
• Friendly and cheerful personality to maintain cooperative interactions with staff, families, and children.
• Good health, including annual physical, and ability to lift 35 pounds.

Clearance Requirements:

• Clearance through DOI Fingerprint Screening, NYS Central Registry, Sex Offender Registry clearance.
• Physical examination with updated TB test, varicella, Tdap, MMR.
• Mandated Reporter training certificate.
