Materials Handler Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Handler Lead to join our team at the Us Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our warehouse operations, you will be responsible for leading a crew to accomplish assigned projects and daily operational functions.
Key Responsibilities- Leads a crew to accomplish assigned projects and daily operational functions;
- Ensures awareness of trade techniques and practices;
- Demonstrates proper work methods and works along with others;
- Provides staff with daily tasks and follows up to confirm completion;
- Checks work while in progress and when finished;
- Discusses with supervisor the training requirements, problems and other issues;
- Assists in developing plans for storage and arrangement of stock;
- Advises workers on guidelines or special instruction to meet deadlines;
- Consolidates materials to provide maximum space utilization and protection of materials;
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials;
- Serves as a senior member of the warehouse project team when involved with special projects;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
Requirements- You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job;
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959;
- You may be required to serve a probationary period;
- Pre-employment physical required;
- Subject to background/security investigation;
- Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process;
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP);
- Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP);
- A current, valid state issued driver license category 8, or commercial driver's license (CDL).

Physical Effort & Work ConditionsWork involves considerable walking, pushing and pulling a variety of carts and materials handling equipment; offloading and loading trucks, lifting products on and off shelves, handling boxes frequently weighing over 40 pounds; handles equipment, furniture and materials of an awkward and heavier nature in excess of 100 pounds (typically using specialized equipment and/or assistance of co-workers).
Working ConditionsWorking Conditions require working in storage buildings, pods, trailers, vehicles and warehouses that may be hot, cold, drafty and poor lighting; work outdoors, on docks, making deliveries in all types of weather conditions during all seasons; hazardous materials may be encountered in daily work activities; will be subject to the possibility of trips, falls, scrapes, cuts, bruises, or injury from the use of equipment; may be subject to conditions that could result in serious accidents; personal protective equipment may be required.
