Job Summary


Zoox is developing a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities. Our System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team constructs the safety case and validates that our vehicles are safe for autonomous driving. We play a foundational role in the company's success.



Responsibilities



  • Proactively identify potential safety hazards through structured predictive safety analysis and review of historical operational data
  • Lead systems safety projects to develop prevention and mitigation strategies that minimize potential safety issues during operations and service
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, legal, safety policy, manufacturing, etc.
  • Be the point of contact for SDMA in cross-functional collaborations and lead working with various subteams
  • Author validation clearance reports to support safety clearance


Qualifications



  • BS degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 5-7 years of experience in deploying and managing complex AV features
  • Systems engineering and system safety training
  • Experience in identifying and mitigating issues in real-world operations and service
  • Excellent EQ with an empathetic communication style
  • Track-record in leading and managing complex cross-functional projects


Bonus Qualifications



  • Senior leadership experience in deploying and managing complex field operations
  • Working experience in the automotive industry or autonomous driving technology industry
  • Solid understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns
  • Experience in developing operational tools/features
  • Distributed systems, telemetry, or cloud platforms working level experience
  • Safety critical systems working level experience
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards


Compensation


The salary range for this position is $166,000 to $286,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level.
