Job Description

As a Senior Manager of Software Development in the Container Runtime organization, you will build critical components of the execution engine that will host high-performance OCI services.

As part of a larger, multi-team project, we are improving the platform for running Oracle Cloud services. This improved platform will allow us to improve operations, scaling, and developer experience. As part of the platform, you will build a team that will allow us to run the full variety of OCI services, including our most demanding, high-performance, high-availability services. You will have the opportunity to work with our senior technical leadership to define, design, and develop solutions to some of the most complex problems.

These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives such as providing a canonical implementation of core components for data planes through a data-plane runtime framework, developing standard and tooling to identify critical performance improvements across OCI data-planes.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and coach engineering teams to deliver successful products and services.
  2. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.
  3. Launching new cloud services and establishing operational excellence.
  4. Setting the technical direction for a foundational data-plane component used across OCI.
  5. Coaching, mentoring, and developing best talent.
  6. Establishing and stimulating software development standards and processes along with best practices for the team
  7. Defining new KPIs to inform decision making and prioritization.
  8. Sets Goals and Expectations for performance and works with employees to establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of management experience in enterprise software
  • 7+ years of experience with applications development with 2+ years in large-scale distributed applications / web services/ systems design
  • Proficient at programming in C/C++, Java, Python
  • Bachelors in computer science and Engineering or related engineering fields

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of management experience
  • Prior development experience with in Cloud Infrastructure or low-level systems engineering
  • Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields
