We are seeking a talented Radio Frequency Systems Analyst to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting our government sponsors by developing, analyzing, and implementing Electronic Counter-Measures (ECM) systems and threat device defeat techniques to protect military personnel. This includes evaluating next generation ECM systems while developing advanced techniques to defeat wireless threats, performing tear down analyses and reverse engineering wireless devices, and analyzing wireless communications systems robustness to interference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate next generation Electronic Counter-Measures (ECM) systems
  • Develop advanced techniques to defeat wireless threats
  • Perform tear down analyses and reverse engineer wireless devices
  • Analyze wireless communications systems robustness to interference
  • Work with ECM system vendors to optimize performance and effectiveness
  • Devise and participate in field tests to evaluate threat defeat effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience developing and analyzing RF / Microwave circuits and systems, including RF digital communications systems
  • Well versed in the development of wireless link budgets, radio wave propagation concepts, and RF circuit cascade analyses
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital signal processing, including digital modulation and demodulation concepts and signal coding
  • Skilled in RF and microwave test measurements / concepts and test equipment, including network analyzers, vector signal generators, vector signal analyzers, and oscilloscopes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to generate effective proposals and technical reports
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently or manage a team of engineers, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work on-site at APL's main campus as well as at commercial and government test sites
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance by start date, and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
