Physician - Body Imaging and Nuclear Medicine Radiologist Position

The selected candidate will be responsible for interpreting imaging exams in general radiology, body imaging, and nuclear medicine, including PET/CT. They will also review radiology requests for appropriateness, respond to consults in a timely manner, prescribe exam protocols, review image quality, and provide feedback to technical staff.
The individual will be expected to interact with patients to obtain relevant clinical history and physical exam findings within the scope of radiology practice. They will also provide clinical oversight of medication administration, including contrast material and other medications relevant to diagnostic radiology.
Additionally, the Physician will participate in quality assurance programs such as peer review and performance improvement. They will also participate in all teaching programs and clinical conferences, including tumor boards.
Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Service include working with the team to ensure high-quality patient care.
Working ConditionsThis is an on-site position with a variable work schedule, requiring rotation between campuses. The selected candidate will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
They will also be required to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
RequirementsTo be eligible for this position, applicants must have a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution. They must also have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Applicants must also have completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. They must be proficient in written and spoken English and must pass a background investigation and a physical examination.
BenefitsThe selected candidate will receive a competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases. They will also receive paid time off, including 50-55 days of paid time off per year, and 11 paid federal holidays per year. They will also be eligible for retirement benefits, including a traditional federal pension and federal 401(k) with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
In addition, they will receive health insurance, including federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance. They will also be eligible for malpractice insurance with tail coverage and no physician employment contract or significant restriction on moonlighting.
