Rad Tech Processing Specialist Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Rad Tech Processing Specialist (37.5). In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all instruments, exchange carts, par level carts, instrument sets, single peel packs, and emergency supplies meet established quotas both qualitatively and quantitatively.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensures the correct set label is affixed on the appropriate pack/container.

Utilizes appropriately personal protective equipment according to departmental policy.

Documents damaged instrumentation into SPM and understands the importance of reporting discrepancies.

Effectively enters, modifies and searches information in the instrument tracking system.

Thoroughly understands the function and purpose of the SPM Instrument Tracking System.

Demonstrates the understanding that some items are cleaned and decontaminated for further processing, while some are merely sanitized, cleaned, disinfect and checked.

Thoroughly inspects rigid, flexible scopes and delicate instrument as part of the proactive quality assurance program.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or the equivalent.

Current certification for Central Service by an accredited agency as IAHCSMM or the National Certification for Surgical Technologist.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and do basic mathematical calculations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of specific health care products, patient care equipment, surgical instruments, medical terminology and basic use is required.

Completion of formal central service technician or surgical technologist education program.

Basic computer skills.
