About the Role

We're looking for a Principal Associate Software Engineer to join our team in Enterprise Risk Management. As a key member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. You'll work on building microservices to automate and integrate the full lifecycle of anti-money laundering screening and alerts management that are consumed by the real-time AML screening APIs used across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in backend stack development tools and technologies.
  • Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions to move, process, and transform large amounts of data using the latest open-source technologies ideally suited for these tasks.
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community.
  • Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 4 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
  • Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, or Scala
  • 1+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
  • 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
  • Results-focused, customer-driven, thrives in team collaboration, self-starter
  • 2+ years of experience working with big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Presto)
  • 1+ years of experience working on streaming data applications (e.g. Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, or Spark Streaming)
  • 3+ years experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
  • Experience in mentoring others
