Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Associate to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of materials and shipments within our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to arrange for the pickup and delivery of materials and shipments.
  • Prepare and package materials for shipment, including exports and hazardous materials.
  • Verify and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with the transportation team to select the most cost-effective and efficient modes of transportation.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of shipments and inventory levels.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external vendors and partners to ensure seamless logistics operations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • International shipping experience.
  • Experience with military shipments.
  • Specialized knowledge of hazardous materials handling and transportation.
