As a member of the Workplace Trust: Privacy, AI, and Risk team, you will play a key role in operationalizing data protection requirements across Amazon's global employee, candidate, and contingent worker populations. This includes engaging with multiple stakeholders across the enterprise to help ensure compliant outcomes. You will be responsible for consulting with key stakeholders to drive alignment with Employee Representative Body legal requirements.
In the execution of Amazon's global data protection obligations, you will be responsible for creating a scalable, standard process for prioritizing applications as they go through the information or approval process with Employee Representative Bodies. You will rely heavily on your ability to deliver results, as you streamline the application intake, scoping and prioritization process. You will Earn Trust with key stakeholders, ensuring complete alignment as the process is created and iterates over time. You will become an expert on the legal application information and approval requirements, raising the bar for Amazon. You will effectively handle escalations coming from Employee Representative Bodies and escalations coming from application owners who aim to stay on track with launch deadlines.
The identified candidate will demonstrate proven experience to: support diverse stakeholders; evaluate process effectiveness; understand levels of potential risks and how to address them; provide in-depth consultation; and have the ability to synthesize diverse data to identify patterns, draw conclusions, and prioritize remediation efforts using risk management concepts. Excellent communication and writing skills are required as this role will frequently have VP level interactions.
The 'day-to-day' aspect of this role will be to review internal Amazon applications for compliance with Employee Representative Body requirements. As part of this you will provide proactive guidance for upcoming tech builds and roadmaps, working with senior leaders on required engagement, or advising on 'what to expect' if the application requires information or approval, prior to launch. You will be responsible for knowing if an application requires Employee Representative Body engagement, and the best path forward for launch. After reviewing each application, you will be responsible for prioritizing as necessary, determining on the needs of the applications based on the countries of launch. Once prioritized, you will program manage the review and approval progress until full approvals are obtained.
The successful candidate leverages their background in communications, program management, negotiation, compliance, data protection, human resources, legal, and/or data governance to implement controls across the internal technology ecosystem.
Key job responsibilitiesConsult with global legal, employee relations, human relations, tech, and other key stakeholders on the applications aiming to launch in EU countries.Create a standard, scalable process to understand requirements for applications launching in certain jurisdictions.Socialize and secure commitment for process, including escalation and risk management strategies.Develop deep knowledge of employee privacy obligations and data privacy processes and solutions utilized by Amazon.Assess areas for program improvement and implement solutions.Consult on the development of business requirements for new system implementations and enhancements.Draft written narratives to communicate obligations, risk analyses, and recommendations.Inventory risk and compliance obligations in a governance, risk and compliance (GRC) system framework.Prepare other supporting documentation such as manager and employee communications, FAQs, and standard operating processes.Respond to questions and troubleshoot issues.Manage other risk and compliance related projects, as needed, to systematically reduce privacy risks.Ability to travel up to 10% including international destinations.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS4+ years of experience in an escalation, program management, privacy, legal, compliance or risk management roleBA/BS degree or equivalent experienceAbility to work in an ambiguous environment and drive forward resultsExperience creating scalable processes across multiple lines of businessesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience working with various types of stakeholders, translating technical requirements into layman's termsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, European Works Councils and other privacy regulations5+ years of experience in an escalation, program management, HR technology, compliance, or risk management roleAdvanced degree in a related area (MBA, MS, or JD)Relevant certifications such as CIPM, CIPT, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, FIPExperience working in a global, large-scale, complex, and fast-paced environmentExperience standing up and developing global privacy programs and strategiesProblem solver, able to troubleshoot issues independently or escalate when necessary; sense of accountability and sound professional judgmentProven analytical capabilities; experience with large amounts of data and in developing audit reports, metrics, and reporting mechanismsAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
