A company in San Juan, PR is seeking a detail-driven Accounts Receivable & Collections Accountant to own the full receivables and loan servicing cycle for its consumer loan portfolio. This is a high-ownership role: you will run the servicing function independently, reporting directly to the Controller / Finance Director, with no intermediate supervisor. It is ideal for an accounting professional who takes pride in clean reconciliations, resolves discrepancies with persistence, and manages customer communication with professionalism and sound judgment.
*Responsibilities*
* Own the accounts receivable and loan servicing cycle — payment application, account maintenance, and reconciliation across the consumer loan portfolio
* Manage collections on past-due accounts, including proactive outreach, follow-up, and payment coordination
* Maintain accurate customer and loan account records in the servicing system
* Research and resolve payment discrepancies, disputes, and account issues
* Prepare AR aging reports, statements, account histories, and payoff quotes
* Process account payoffs and closures, coordinating with Treasury and Accounting to confirm receipt and application of funds
* Respond to customer inquiries regarding balances, due dates, interest, fees, and account history
* Support month-end close, audits, and documentation requests
*Required Qualifications*
* 4+ years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, loan servicing, or a related accounting function (or 3+ years with direct loan or consumer servicing experience)
* Strong account reconciliation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
* Attention to detail and numerical accuracy with financial information
* Professional written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to handle confidential customer and financial information
* Bilingual Spanish/English
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Direct experience servicing consumer or installment loans
* Knowledge of amortization schedules, principal and interest calculations, and payment application
* Experience with ACH and wire payment processing
* Experience with loan servicing or accounting software
* Knowledge of basic lending and servicing terminology
Pay: $50,** - $62,** per year
