Jacobs is seeking an experienced water and wastewater engineer to support preconstruction design and project delivery efforts in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. This role will provide technical leadership through QA/QC reviews of engineering designs, help coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, and identify issues that could affect construction, cost, schedule, operability, or regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will bring broad water infrastructure experience and the judgment to review design work across project stages. Relevant work may include water and wastewater treatment facilities, sanitary sewer systems, pump stations, and water distribution. The role will also draw on experience in design coordination, construction administration, project management, and oversight of technical resources.
What You’ll Do
• Lead or perform QA/QC reviews of design packages for water and wastewater infrastructure projects before construction.
• Review plans, specifications, design calculations, technical memoranda, reports, and other engineering deliverables for completeness, accuracy, coordination, and consistency.
• Evaluate designs for conformance with applicable codes, client criteria, permit conditions, regulatory requirements, and Jacobs quality procedures.
• Assess design details for constructability, safety, maintainability, and effective operation over the project life cycle.
• Coordinate reviews across civil, environmental, electrical, process, geotechnical, survey, and other technical disciplines.
• Document review comments, track their resolution, and work with designers, project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to close technical issues.
• Identify design risks, gaps, and potential conflicts early; recommend practical actions to protect project quality, scope, cost, and schedule.
• Support design coordination meetings, technical workshops, value engineering reviews, and preconstruction planning.
• Provide engineering input on project scope, design schedules, alternatives, and potential cost or schedule effects of design changes.
• Support project managers with technical oversight, work planning, resource coordination, and progress reporting.
• Apply construction administration experience to help assess RFIs, submittals, change documentation, and field questions when design support is needed.
• Maintain clear project records, review logs, and technical documentation in accordance with project and organizational requirements.
• Promote Jacobs’ commitments to safety, quality, ethics, and continuous improvement. Here's
