As a Unit Coordinator at Boston Medical Center, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional patient care and support services to patients, families, and visitors. You will work collaboratively with the clinical team to deliver high-quality patient care, while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and support services, including greeting patients, families, and visitors, and directing them to the appropriate areas of the hospital.
- Coordinate activities of the front desk/office support services, including answering and responding to telephone calls and inquiries in a timely manner.
- Perform clerical duties, such as data entry, filing, and photocopying, as needed.
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, including obtaining and verifying demographic information and completing free-care applications.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient care records, including preparing charts and labels on admission and maintaining complete and accurate medical records.
- Participate in ongoing educational activities to maintain competency and update requisite skills in your area of responsibilities.
- High school education or GED required.
- One to two years previous clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to accurately interpret and utilize medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Proficiency with various computer software systems, including Microsoft Office and hospital-wide systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact appropriately with nursing staff, patients, families/visitors, physicians, and other hospital staff in a fast-paced environment.
