Comedic Arts Faculty Position

The BFA Program in Comedic Arts at Emerson College seeks part-time faculty to teach courses related to the theory and history of comedy. Successful candidates will have a firm grasp of comedy vocabulary, structures, and tropes. A background in comedic practice is preferred.
Course offerings include Evolution of Comedy II, Playing with Theory, and Seminar in Comedic Studies. Candidates will be able to contextualize and analyze comedy in relation to issues of race, gender, class, disability, and other networks of power.
Complete applications, including cover letter, CV, and teaching effectiveness evidence, will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please indicate in your cover letter which courses you wish to be considered for. A PhD or advanced degree in a related field is preferred.

- CA103: Evolution of Comedy II - Surveys comedy evolution from 1895 to present, primarily in North America.
- CA200: Playing with Theory - Introduces students to comedy theory to hone their craft and express a point of view.
- VM403: Seminar in Comedic Studies - Special seminar offerings in comedic studies, with rotating topics.
