About This Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Data Scientist - Risk Management Expert to join our team. This role involves developing, interpreting, and implementing complex statistical, financial, and accounting concepts for predictive modeling and reporting related to credit risk measurement and monitoring.

This is a full-time position that requires working from San Juan, PR. As an expert in data analysis, you'll have the opportunity to work with various software programs, including R, Python, SAS, Stata, or SPSS, to analyze data and identify trends or patterns indicating financial distress and emerging credit risk in clients using quantitative techniques such as detection models, prediction models, text matching, clustering, among others.

Responsibilities
  • Apply statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize numerical and text data to provide actionable insights.
  • Analyze data using statistical analysis software programs and design statistical or machine learning models for researching problems or questions.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends or patterns that may indicate financial distress and emerging credit risk in clients using quantitative techniques.
  • Conduct special studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepare recommendations for policy, procedure, control, or action.
  • Evaluate complex profit plans, operating records, and financial statements, and direct the preparation of studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as forecasts, financial plans, regulatory requirements, statistical reports.
  • Makes recommendations to management regarding cost-saving or profit-generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, or a Master's degree in statistics or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in a quantitative discipline, or two years of experience in business administration (MBA) with a focus on finance.
  • Knowledge of one or more software programs: R programming language, Python, or SAS.
  • Familiarity with Word Processing, Presentations, Spreadsheets, and other related software.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, applicable laws, regulations, and practices, financial markets, financial analysis, and/or reporting of financial data.
  • The ability to process large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis, using computers.
  • Fully bilingual, English and Spanish.
Compensation and Benefits

Our estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, you'll enjoy benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
