Cook Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Cook Assistant to join our team at Compass Group, North America. As a key member of our culinary team, you will assist in the preparation and cooking of various food items, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.

• Assist in reading menu to estimate food requirements and order supplies as needed.
• Prepare and cook food in accordance with company production records and standardized recipes.
• Adjust thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods under guidance.
• Test food by tasting, smelling, and piercing to determine that it is cooked.
• Carve meat, portion food on serving plates, and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes to fill orders as directed.
• Wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables and fruits.
• Butcher chicken, fish, and shellfish as directed.
• Bake bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry as course of instruction permits.
• Maintain work area and equipment, following principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
• Interact with customers and coworkers in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner.
• Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures.
