Key Responsibilities- Assist with patient preparation and care during pre- and post-operative periods
- Escort patients from the reception area to procedure rooms
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures and post-operative follow-up, including vital signs, pressure bandage, suture removal, and steri-strip application
- Measure, photograph, and document surgical defects and repairs
- Apply pressure dressings to wounds and educate patients and families on proper wound care
- Complete surgical paperwork, including consent forms, surgical records, and anatomical maps
- Assist surgeons with Mohs surgery, excisions, and subsequent repairs while maintaining sterile technique
- Set up treatment areas for skin biopsies, dermatologic surgery, and cosmetic procedures
- Break down and re-set/stock procedure rooms and instruments according to patient turnover
- Maintain surgical equipment, ensuring instruments are cyclically sharpened and replaced as needed
- Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to the improvement of patient care services
- Assist with pre-operative check-in and post-op check-out, ensuring follow-up appointments are made and questions are answered
- Cross-cover the front desk, including check-in, phone coverage, and scheduling surgical appointments
- Participate in activities conducive to unit safety and operation
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility and adaptability in response to shifting priorities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
