Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Social Worker III to join our team at Polk County Local Government, NC. As a key member of our social services department, you will be responsible for providing intensive social services to vulnerable populations, including at-risk children and families.

Your primary focus will be on conducting investigations, assessments, and providing in-home services to ensure the safety and well-being of children. You will work closely with families, community organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective case plans, provide support and guidance, and connect families with necessary resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations of alleged child abuse and neglect, including assessments and interviews with family members and witnesses.
  • Provide in-home services to families, including counseling, guidance, and support to help them address complex social and emotional issues.
  • Develop and implement effective case plans, in collaboration with families, to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Work closely with community organizations and other stakeholders to connect families with necessary resources, including healthcare, education, and economic support.
  • Participate in Child and Family Team meetings, and provide regular updates and progress reports to stakeholders.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in Social Work or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Social Work with relevant experience.
  • At least one year of experience in social work, counseling, or a related field, preferably in child protection and welfare services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including children, families, and community organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex social and emotional issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and partnership-building.
