About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Counselor Advocate to join our team at The People Concern. As a key member of our Domestic Violence Shelter program, you will provide critical support services to survivors of domestic violence and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct services to clients, including crisis intervention, safety planning, and resource referrals.
  • Assist with client entry and exit of shelter programs, ensuring a smooth transition for participants.
  • Facilitate support groups for adult and child participants, focusing on life skills, DV education, and parenting education.
  • Provide child-care and life skills support as needed.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Attend staff meetings, case conferences, and training workshops to stay up-to-date on best practices.
Requirements
  • Experience in social services or case management, preferably in a 24-hour shelter setting.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and implement cultural responsiveness.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
