Job Description

Job Title: PowerBI Developer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled PowerBI Developer to join our team at Sargent & Lundy. As a PowerBI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and testing high-quality applications for automating core business processes. You will work closely with project teams to support specific business processes automation and develop tools to support project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and thoroughly test high-quality, efficient applications for automating core business processes.
  • Utilize existing data models and author where there are current gaps in data.
  • Develop interactive reports and dashboards to visualize data.
  • Clean and transform data to make it suitable for analysis.
  • Work with Project Managers and team members to provide actionable business insights to support decision-making.
  • Ensure the ongoing functionality and performance of BI solutions.
  • Manage a development schedule, regularly updating the Project Manager on progress towards automation milestones.
  • Ensure adherence to SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and Citizen Developer guidelines to promote the adoption of best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Design in-solution proper exception handling, metric reporting, global variables, and other best practices.
  • Own code quality, unit testing, and deployment of all work.
  • Collaborate directly with the Project Manager to clarify and further define the backlog and prioritization of work.
  • Clearly communicate your estimating, planning, and managing work and progress reporting to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Effectively document your work for knowledge sharing within the team as well as the wider IT organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Business (Management Information Systems), Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of project and working experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerBI in creating detailed dashboards and interactive tools. Experience with Power Automate, Dataverse, and related M365 workloads is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with PowerBI, Sharepoint, and Data Connectors to support business processes.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, derive insights, and raise issues to the project team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to interact and multitask with project team members, clients, and vendors of varying position levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Eager to learn new skills and develop knowledge to make a valuable impact to the project team operation.
  • Willing to engage with others to understand project team needs.
  • Committed to deliver high-quality and accurate deliverables with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge in MS Office tools.
  • Must be fully bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, and write).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related engineering internship, co-op, or work experience, which includes project controls, project planning, project scheduling, and earned value performance, preferably within the power industry.
