About the Role

Chiesi is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Global Business Development for Rare Diseases to join our Global Business Development team. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in strengthening our business development capabilities and driving growth in the rare disease space.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor and perform systematic landscaping of opportunities in the external innovation space within Rare Diseases to identify business development opportunities in line with corporate and GBU strategy.
  • Build and nurture solid relationships and cooperation with R&D, commercial within the Rare Business Units and other relevant corporate functions, and effectively lead cross-functional teams.
  • Work closely with Due Diligence, Alliance Management and Integration colleagues to provide project leadership on Rare BD opportunities, ensuring strong coordination and effective communication between Chiesi team and external partners from initial assessment through deal closure.
  • Pitch opportunities to the senior leadership of the company seeking approval according to the internal governance and keep executive leadership regularly informed providing reports on results, inflection points and decisions to be made.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of international experience in Business Development roles in the Pharma and Biotech industry with a significant track record of deals closed for assets, both under development and in-market, preferably with global scope and in the Rare Diseases space.
  • International exposure including but not limited to significant experience abroad (one year or more) and previous experience in a multinational organization.
