Job Title: Career Specialist

Metropolitan Council On Jewish Poverty is seeking a skilled Career Specialist to join our team at the Chesed Center in Brooklyn. As a Career Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping clients from diverse backgrounds achieve their career goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess client needs and develop individualized career plans
  • Conduct in-person and remote client registrations and input information into our electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Provide information and referrals to clients regarding resources in the community
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with clients and collaterals to ensure appropriate and effective referrals
  • Work effectively with partner agencies, including legal services
  • Attend trainings and seminars to enhance your knowledge and skills
  • Represent the agency in meetings as needed
  • Participate in community events and distributions as needed
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and adaptability in serving clients from diverse backgrounds
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of career resources and government entitlements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make timely decisions
  • Fluency in Yiddish or Hebrew (a plus)
