Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Engineer and Suppliers Management professional to join our team at Collins Aerospace. As a key member of our Landing Systems Materials team, you will play a critical role in analyzing, researching, designing, and developing materials and their related fabrication and application processes to optimize materials for use in engineering design and/or application in structures, systems, and subsystems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform material analyses, including failure analysis of components, systems, and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic, and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Perform Manufacturing Planning Reviews, Work transfers, Customer Requests, Work Packages, and/or Process Troubleshooting.
  • Assemble specification de-composition and part decomposition.
  • Perform Materials of Concern (MOC) Analysis.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary problem-solving teams using RRCA techniques.
  • Support product and process improvements and maintain continuous communication with the team.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering procedures and specifications.

Qualifications
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 2 years prior relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • Must be able to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Knowledge and understanding of products, manufacturing processes, and production support requirements.
  • Experience working Manufacturing process, materials, regulations is a plus.
  • MRP Experience, SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with CAD tools including Catia V5 and EPEC PLM Teamcenter.
  • Experience with reading drawings and material specifications.
  • GD&T knowledge.
  • Knowledge in different analysis like fungus, fluids, structures, etc.
  • Programming knowledge on Python, or MATLAB is a value.
  • Knowledge in metals, structures, polymers, and composites and regulations is a big value.
