CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors, and partners working together to build an inclusive New York City. We offer more than 180 integrated programs in Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. Our team serves a diverse cross-section of New Yorkers, including new mothers in Brownsville and job seekers in the Rockaways.

About the Position

The Receptionist will be responsible for handling incoming calls, welcoming new clients, and connecting them with appropriate staff. They will also prepare purchase requests, maintain an inventory of items, communicate with CAMBA's purchasing department and vendors, and schedule Residential Aides and/or Security Guards to maintain 24-hour coverage in the congregate facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle incoming calls from providers and welcome new clients
  • Prepare purchase requests and maintain an inventory of items
  • Communicate with CAMBA's purchasing department and vendors
  • Schedule Residential Aides and/or Security Guards
  • Assist with collecting client documents and data entry of client information and services into eSHARE
  • Ensure vacant rooms in the congregate facility have the necessary items for new clients
  • Complete monthly utility bills
  • Take or deliver messages or transfer calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable
  • Answer questions about the organization and provide callers with address, directions, and other information
  • Welcome onsite visitors, determine the nature of their business, and announce visitors to appropriate personnel
  • Monitor visitor access and issue passes when required
  • Update appointment calendars
  • Receive, sort, and route mail, and maintain and route publications
  • Maintain fax and copy machines, assist users, send faxes, and retrieve and route incoming faxes
  • Maintain the professional appearance of the receptionist's area
  • Create and print fax cover sheets, memos, correspondence, reports, program marketing materials, and other documents when necessary
  • Perform other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating
  • Prepare and sort source documents and identify and prepare data to be entered
  • Contact preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data
  • Assist with completing rent logs
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with persons with a history of homelessness, mental illness, and/or substance abuse
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual in Spanish
