**Job Summary**
The Orthopedic Technician at Boston Medical Center plays a vital role in providing administrative and patient care support for orthopedic patients. This position requires a high level of organization, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
**Responsibilities**
- Assist with duties such as applying and removing casts, splints, and braces, under the direction and supervision of Operations Manager and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice.
- Gather patient information for registration, schedule appointments, verify demographic information, and assist in the facilitation of patient access to services.
- Provide excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate in a courteous, pleasant, and professional manner with patients, general public, staff members, outside agencies, and all other internal and external contacts.
- Ability to accurately interpret and utilize basic medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions based on department policies and established procedures.
**Requirements**
- Minimum of High School education/GED required.
- Successful completion of either an Orthopedic Technology program, a Medical Assistant program, military technical medic training, or at least one full year coursework in allied health (which includes A&P) or at least one year on-the-job training in orthopedic related work.
- At least two years of previous work experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
