Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Drainage Technician to join our team at the City of Golden. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of activities and equipment operation in the construction, maintenance, and general services related to storm drain cleaning, stormwater inlet maintenance and inspection, detention pond maintenance and drainage channel maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain stormwater inlets, channels, drainages, streams, and detention ponds
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance to construction equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, front-end loaders, sweepers, vac trucks, chippers, and power tools
  • Inspect and test stormwater lines for illicit connections and discharges
  • Trim and remove trees and root systems and clear growth and debris in drainage channels and streams
  • Perform general construction maintenance, routine facility, and vehicle maintenance as necessary
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • Class A CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements required
  • Flagger, Confined Space, Trenching and Excavation Certificate, BMP Inspector, and CIP Erosion and Sediment Certifications required
  • Completed LTAP Safety in the Workplace, LTAP Drainage, LTAP Supervisor course, Traffic Control Supervisor, and Noxious Weed Recognition trainings
Working Conditions

The work environment is typically outdoors, with regular exposure to extreme cold, heat, and working in confined spaces. The position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, operate equipment in channels, ponds, and on slopes, and frequent walking on slopes, hills, and various terrain.
