Job Description

At Garelick Farms, we are seeking a skilled Filler Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating filler equipment and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operate filler equipment of various product families following regulatory standards.
  2. Clean, set-up, operate, and monitor equipment of the production line.
  3. Complete all required documentation and scheduled quality checks.
  4. Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of product.
  5. Adjust filler timing and filling; check mat as needed.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
  7. Collect required samples needed for quality assurance testing.
  8. Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced.
  9. Watch for jams on the label operator and effectively thread wrap to prevent downtime due to error.
  10. Perform filler and filler line changeovers in a safe and efficient manner.
  11. Complete cleaning checklist once line has completed run.
  12. Prepare equipment for next run to include size changes as needed.
  13. Maintain communication with other departments, supervisor, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
  14. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP's.
  15. Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  16. Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
  17. Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues.
  18. Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Warehouse, production, or general work experience preferred.
  • Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment.
  • Able to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Able to legibly write entries for record keeping.
  • Able to use company computer systems.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to follow directions.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
