About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Shop Machinist to join our Repair Center team at Metso Outotec. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the tear down, inspection, evaluation, and final assembly of mining-related equipment such as gearboxes, motors, pinions, pumps, vibration screens, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure final assembly and complete all associated records and correct maintenance action forms.
  • Work collaboratively with Machine Shop Manager and other Repair Center Management to ensure projects are tracked for completion.
  • Determine and establish methods and working processes for the most specialized and complex jobs.
  • Control the quality of all work done and effectively communicate with QA/QC Personnel.
  • Perform minor and major repairs of projects received at the Repair Center, including all facets of large and small mining machinery.
  • Maintain assembly equipment to ensure best reliability and performance.
  • Maintain assembly equipment records, including illustrations, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and best practice procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior repair experience with mining process equipment.
  • Ability to analyze situations and problems, ability to detect technical discrepancies.
  • Observes safety regulations and exhibits a high concern for safety.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of destructive and non-destructive tests.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, pi tapes, scales, etc. proficiently.
  • Ability to use hydraulic pullers and presses for disassembly and assembly work.
  • Understanding of mechanics of precision bearings, bushings, gearing, as well as heating and cooling of components for disassembly and assembly of work.
